Biography
I grew up in a rural area of Rajshahi and attended Abdul Karim Sarkar College, Tanore, Rajshahi. I graduated as a first-generation student with a bachelor's degree in Geography and Environmental Studies from the University of Rajshahi (RU), Bangladesh. In 2019, I completed my M.S. degree in Geography and Environmental Studies at the University of Rajshahi (RU). Subsequently, I commenced my role as a Research Assistant at Dr. Md. Moniruzzaman's Lab within the Department of Geography and Environmental Studies at the University of Rajshahi. Following this academic engagement, in 2021, I transitioned to a new professional role, joining the Eco-Social Development Organization (ESDO) as part of my commitment to furthering my impact in the field.
I currently serve as the MEAL Specialist-MIS at Concern Worldwide, where my work focuses on the development and enhancement of Management Information Systems (MIS), along with data analysis, mapping, visualization, and research that supports evidence-based learning. My responsibilities extend to ensuring that data-driven insights guide strategic decisions and enhance project outcomes.
As a MEAL and GIS Officer on the "Integrated Nutrition Intervention for Malnutrition Treatment and Prevention in Refugee Camps" project in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh, I led the development of GIS-based tools for spatial analysis and mapping, crucial for identifying malnutrition hotspots and optimizing resource allocation. I also developed interactive dashboards to visualize real-time data, enhancing decision-making and program outcomes. Before this, I served as an M&E and GIS Assistant on the "Disaster Resilience (DRR) Project for Host Coastal Communities" in Cox’s Bazar. I designed a risk assessment mapping system to identify disaster-prone areas, which was key in formulating targeted response strategies. I also produced geographic reports and visualizations that informed policy development and stakeholder engagement. In both roles, I integrated GIS with broader MEAL functions, including planning, monitoring, data analysis, and evaluation, to drive program effectiveness and impact.
Apart from that, I completed several academic projects and reports during my undergrad and grad studies. I published manuscripts and findings as a lead author in Scopus-indexed journals with the tools of GIS and Remote Sensing for environmental modeling and simulation, machine learning approach to Artificial Neural Network (CA-ANN) in forecast-based simulation modeling, a hybrid model of logistic regression (LR), Satellite Image Classification and Land Use/Land Cover Changes on various interdisciplinary issues and studies i.e. climate change, environmental degradation, LULCC, wetland changes, agricultural sustainability, and disaster management-related issues. My research motivation helped me to bridge my fields into geospatial science and also drove me to pursue higher study in these interdisciplinary fields.
My keen research interest involves the study of environmental analysis, environmental sustainability, and policy, land use and land cover change, climate change and adaptation, disaster management, agricultural sustainability and adaptation, urban environment, geospatial science, spatial analysis, satellite image analysis, digital mapping, geospatial big data. Also, my research efforts have been largely intensive on developing GIS and remote sensing-based algorithms and models to analyze spatiotemporal patterns and forecasts. In my research, I prefer to combine several methodologies, such as statistical modeling, spatial modeling, GIS, remote sensing, and qualitative analysis. Both academics and practitioners can be benefited from the interdisciplinary knowledge that will be produced by my study.
